The Time Is Now exists solely for the purpose ofalleviating the suffering of those who find themselves facing economichardship. Whether it be through job loss, loss of a spouse whowas the primary source of income, extreme medical expenses or other crises theyface, an increasing number of people need the additional financial assistancethat goes beyond what government, private and religious institutions canprovide them.  Because of plant closings, permanent and temporary lay-offs, there are an increasing number of people whofind themselves poverty stricken.  Manyof them are hardworking people who are chronically under-employed or insubsistence level hourly work that cannot sustain an individual, let alone afamily. Many are elderly who cannot survive on government pensions, making themunable to provide for three staple items: shelter, food, and utilities. Working with social service agencies, churches, andprivate referrals, – all of which are verified for the legitimacy of the need –The Time Is Now helps in any number of circumstances where there is no otherhope.  Whether it is because all otherresources, such as heating assistance, have been exhausted or due to federaland state cutbacks, The Time Is Now is there to help. To date, Sal has helped an average of 500 extremelypoverty-stricken individuals annually for the past 28 years.  The goal always is to meet the human concernsof the suffering.  Assistance ranges fromrestoring utility service to helping with the cost of shelter, and supplyingneeds, ranging from blankets and heaters to food, toiletries, diapers, andwheel chairs. The Time Is Now’s mission is further served by strictadherence to its Articles of Incorporation: “No part of any of the monies ofthe corporation shall inure to the benefit of or be distributable to itsofficers or directors; there are no director’s fees, no directors’ salaries, noauto expenses and no reimbursements.” The Time Is Now initially was established with Sal’sown funds once he became successful in the telecommunications industry.  Its base of donors and benefactors has grownsteadily, but still Sal finds more Fellow Americans in need than he financiallycan help alone. The Time Is Now’s continuing goal is tomake sure every cent donated is utilized to provide goods and services, such asfood, clothing, utilities, toiletries, automobile assistance, and shelterassistance to help the extremely poverty-stricken children, senior citizens, disabled, and families live more comfortably, improve their quality of life, and remove their pain and suffering.

They assist adults, senior citizens, children, the handicapped, with many needs. Rental assistance, emergency shelter, food, utility assistance, automobile assistance, household necessities, toiletries, clothing, home repairs, wheelchairs, etc.

Here is little Effie's head. Her brains are made of gingerbread. When the judgement day comes, God will find six crumbs. Stooping by the coffin lid waiting for something to rise as the something's always did. Imagine His surprise, bellowing above the general noise, "Where is Effie? She was dead." Back to God in a tiny voice: "My name's Maybe." The first crumb said. The number two crumb picked up the song. "Might, I'm called. I've done no wrong." Cried the third crumb, "I am Should. Here's our little brother Could and my big sister Would. Don't punish us for we've been good." And the last crumb, with some shame, whispered unto God, "My name is Must and with the others, we've been Effie, who isn't alive and never was. Cross the threshold have no dread. Lift the sheet back in this way.
