Established in 1961, HNS was designed so that low-income people seeking assistance could come to one location. Churches and other community resources rely on HNS to provide the basic necessities of life. HNS provides emergency assistance that allows their clients to use their limited income towards other basic needs. They help reduce the threat of homelessness and promote their clients into a stable self-sufficient living environment. They also assist, educate, and encourage clients towards self-reliance and a hope of a better tomorrow.

HNS serves roughly 1500-1700 individuals every month with approximately 50% of them children. The assistance they provide is given in the form of the following programs: Food Bank, Clothing, Emergency Shelter, Prescriptions Program, Special Medical, Back-to-School Program, Utility Assistance, Christmas Program, Transportation, Birthday Closet, and Referral Program.

Metro CareRing is a hunger relief organization that operates one of the largest food pantries in Denver.Last year, Metro CareRing provided emergency and self-sufficiency services to more than 125,000 low-income individuals, offering food, utility and transportation assistance, and work readiness items, including tools, boots and identification documents.

Hours:
M-F 9:30-2 for food services, 9:30-3 business hours for information. Tuesday nights 6p-8p for food and referrals.

Crossroads of the Rockies, founded in 1989 was originally formed as the result of a gathering of pastors expressing a desire to meet the need of their neighbors. Metro CareRing helps meet basic needs and advocates for solutions to hunger and poverty. They assist people through times of crisis and provide resources for self-sufficiency.

Metro CareRing served almost 10,000 families last year with food and toiletries. In addition, they provided utilities assistance to several hundred households, over 9,000 referrals for other services, and provided a listening ear to their clients.

Supported by Kaiser Permanente and the Colorado Department of Human Services, the Hunger Free Hotline is a bilingual toll free number. The Hotline's resource navigators are experts in public and private food resources and fluent in both English and Spanish. Resource navigators will ask callers high-level screening questions so that their recommendations will be tailored to each caller's unique situation. The Hotline is available Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 4:30 PM. Food assistance navigators will refer clients to all resources including: food assistance, senior programs, WIC, the Summer Food Service Program, school meals, food banks, food pantries, soup kitchens, and more.
