COMPASSION IN ACTION SOCIAL SERVICES PROGRAM helps those who need assistance with rent and utilities. Administers emergency financial aid programs for the Des Moines Area Religious Council. Funds are intended for dire need situations and when no other community resource is available to meet the need Funds available for the first 15 people daily based on funds. By Appointment only: must call on Mondays between 8:15am-10am to make an appointment and speak to someone in person.

FOOD PANTRY (only) is based on a set geographical area in the city of Des Moines

CRIBS AND CARSEATS for children/babies are available via referrals from a referral agency (such as Visiting Nurse Services, Health Inc., etc.) only Families cannot come in and receive assistance for cribs and car seats without a referral.

DIAPERS and FORMULA for babies are based on donations received and DMARC Parents must have a photo ID and either the child's birth certificate or Title 19 card and/or WIC book Open to all of Polk County and surrounding area

MEALS: HOMELESS MOBILE CANTEEN serves breakfast starting at 5am on Tuesday and Friday mornings at the following locations: Churches United, YMCA, the neighborhood area of 6th Ave. and Forest Ave. and Laurel Village (on Tuesdays and Fridays only).

HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE includes Toys for Tots, food for the family for Christmas. Call for more information. Sign-up days Nov. 5-9.
