The mission of Clayton Family Care is to assist low-income households of Clayton County in achieving and maintaining self-sufficiency free of social service subsidies. This is accomplished by providing emergency assistance with housing, utilities, food, & medicine. Classes in financial planning and household management are held bi-weekly and are required for any client seeking assistance with housing or utilities a second time.

Clayton Family Care is the largest emergency assistance provider in Clayton County, serving nearly 900 households (2500 individuals) with $200,000+ annually. Housing needs take up the majority of these funds. They also provide some $25,000 in utility assistance and more than $10,000 for prescription medicine. Additional services include Financial planning classes, diapers (not available w/their food certificates), seasonal programs such as Toys for Tots, etc. The agency also hosts workshops on "Living in a State of Poverty", conducted by the University of Georgia, Cooperative Extension Service.
