Services: OVERVIEW: One-stop for basic income maintenance programs. - - SERVICES: - 1) SNAP: Free food benefits provided monthly to eligible low-income households that allows them to purchase food from participating stores. Its purpose is to help eligible low-income persons of all ages with their medical bills when they cannot afford to pay. An interview , picture ID and proof of citizenship are required. - - 3) MARYLAND CHILDRENS' HEALTH PROGRAM: See separate listing. Provides limited cash grants of $185 if applicant's income is less than $157 a month and resources do not exceed $1,500. - - 6) REFUGEE CASH ASSISTANCE: Provides cash assistance to refugees for the first eight (8) months of being in the United States. Refugees new to the Montgomery & Prince George's Counties will be served at the Suburban Washington Resettlement Center located at; 8719 Colesville Road, 3rd Floor, Silver Spring, Maryland 20910, phone 301-562-8585. - - 7) EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN: Provides emergency cash assistance to families with children. It assists with security deposits, court-ordered evictions, foreclosures, utility cut-offs, and burial assistance and may be used only once in a twelve-month period. Also available are funds for those who have experienced an official disaster (hurricane, flood or fire). Will assist those in public housing. Children 18-21 must be enrolled in school full-time.
