Services: The board members of the Stark County Hunger Task Force believe that in any community a number of individuals will experience a crisis during their lifetime in which they are unable to provide adequate food for themselves and their families. It is their goal to depend on the generosity of their neighbors for assistance to satisfy that basic need. Since 1981, the Stark County Hunger Task Force has taken a positive role in battling the hunger needs of the community of Stark County. There are currently two dozen pantries of which they support -- who feed a total of 15,000 people every month.

Services: Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley’s mission is to solicit, store and distribute food to hunger relief organizations feeding hungry people in Columbiana, Mahoning and Trumbull counties; and to provide education and advocacy. SHFOTMV addresses hunger in adults and children in the tri-county area it serves. SHFOTMV obtains prepared leftover food from local restaurants and distributes it to those in need. SHFOTMV also offers an urban gardening program supporting 30 community and 200 backyard gardens ($22,000). Among SHFOTMVs recent accomplishments were receiving a grant to purchase a computer system to update its office, and hiring two additional staff members. The organization was invited to participate in the postal workers food drive, and received 12 tons of food.

Eligibility: Serves residents of Brecksville. Assistance is provided based upon need and generally individual(s) can receive service once every 30 days. Cannot assist individuals using wheelchairs as service is provided on second floor which is inaccesssible.

Eligibility: Individuals, aged 18 and over, who have been released from any prison in Ohio. There is not a set limit on the number of times ex-offenders may request baskets, but service depends on availability and individual situations.
