Services: BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: Visiting nurses come to the community center every month to check senior's blood pressure and discuss any concerns that they may have No appointment necessary Also, every 3 months the nurses will trim toenails as long as the senior bring their own supplies
CLOTHING CLOSET: Carries clothes for all ages and both male and female
COATS FOR KIDS: Donations of gently used and new winter coats are collected and distributed to children that need them One time a year program
DAILY ACTIVITIES FOR SENIORS: At least one activity is offered at the center every day Activities may include cards, bingo, exercise, etc
EXERCISE GROUP: A group of seniors but, all ages are welcome, have an exercise class every Tuesday and Friday morning A variety of exercise options are presented by a qualified instructor Pre-registration is not necessary
FOOD PANTRY: Participants receive a supplemental supply of groceries on a weekly basis The amount of food is dependant on household size Delivery is available to those seniors who are homebound Emergency food assistance is also available
HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE: Thanksgiving and Christmas food baskets are distributed as well as an Adopt a Need Family program
HOME DELIVERED MEALS: Home-delivery of hot nutritious meals delivered to homebound persons 60 years of age or older. Cost is $3 Special diets also served at doctor's request
KIDS SUMMER CRAFTS PROGRAM: Held in conjunction with the City of Lisbon, this is a terrific activity for children in Lisbon to participate in during the summer
SCHOOL SUPPLIES: School supplies are distributed to families in need to properly send their children off to their first day of school with the materials they need
SENIOR DINNING: Coordination of nutritious meals and socialization for seniors and senior activities. Special diets also served at doctor's request Meals are served at noon Sunday through Friday: must be 60 years of age or older, contribution of $2.75 for people or 60 and $3.50 for people under 60
SENIOR TRANSPORTATION: The transportation services will take persons over 60 to their destination as long as it is within the area served, which is 25 miles one-way for personal services. A two-day advanced reservation is required. Will transport to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City
SWIMMIMG POOL PASSES: Free pool passes to Mount Vernon's Public Pool provided to those families in need
UTILITY ASSISTANCE: Financial help with a back payment to prevent utility shut-off can be received when funds are available
