Intake and Referrals Our unique Intake and Referral program is a “one-stop-social-services site” able to address all of a client’s needs as they journey from crisis to stability to self-sufficiency. Using our own resources as well as that of the community, our referral options include emergency food assistance, housing, fuel assistance, mental health and substance abuse services, employment, and educational opportunities. We also provide referrals to detox, shelters, and outpatient treatment. Living Skills Education Speaker Series On a range of community services that are addressing the housing, utility, health and nutrition needs of our clients: Ad-Lib, Berkshire Children and Families, Berkshire Community College, Berkshire County Regional Housing Authority, Berkshire Mediation, Berkshire Women Infant and Children [WIC], BerkshireWorks, BCAC, BRIEN Center, Department of Transitional Assistance [DTA], Elder Services, Goodwill Industries, Link to Life, Mass Rehab, Mildred Elley, National Alliance on Mental Illness [NAWA], and Pregnancy Support. Meals Program Continental breakfast and lunch served Monday through Friday. Mother-Child Jail Visits Children transported monthly in collaboration with Berkshire County Children and Families. Grant made possible through Violence Against Women Act grant. Neighborhood Empowerment Collaborating with neighboring agencies including Downtown Inc., Morningside Initiative, and West Side Initiative for “Pittsfield’s Own Block Party.” Participating in the West Side Initiative including crime watch meetings and neighborhood cleanup. Nutrition Program Life enhancing nutrition education including learning to cook nutritiously, meal planning, shopping on a budget, and reading food labels. Positive Project for Kids On the 3rd Saturday – for kids of all ages. Thanksgiving Program Hundreds of food baskets distributed in addition to hundreds of meals prepared for traditional meal served at The Christian Center and also delivered to sick and shut-in on Thanksgiving Day. Third Saturday Lunch Program Once a month a special meal is cooked by local agencies or organizations. Transitional Housing Reentry Program Collaborating with the Berkshire County House of Correction and Berkshire - Community Action Council to reintegrate ex-offenders successfully into the community. - - Services include: clothing and no-cost housing goods; food pantry; after school programs; summer enrichment program for children ages 6-12; fuel assistance; transportation assistance for necessary appointments - - Provides lunch Monday through Friday at 12:00pm - - Food pantry hours: are Wednesday, Thursday, Friday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3 p.m. - - Deadline to register for Thanksgiving meal is November 21, 2016. Registration for Thanksgiving baskets October 25-28, 2016. - - Families need to apply in person for holiday gift program.
