The program provides emergency food for low-income people of all ages who live in the city of San Gabriel, including homeless people. Services include occasional and ongoing emergency food assistance. Services are available for single people, couples, and families, regardless of their religion, source of income or citizenship. The contents of the bags vary but usually include staples such as beans, rice and pasta; canned goods such as tuna, vegetables, fruits and meats; and infant formula and baby food, if available. Homeless people who do not have access to cooking facilities are assisted with items such as flip-top canned goods, bread and instant soups. The amount of food provided varies according to family size and is enough to last three days; people may be assisted more than once depending on their circumstances. People may register for ongoing assistance once per month. Services are restricted to San Gabriel residents who live within San Gabriel Mission Parish.

Hours:
Monday through Saturday, 10:00am to 1:45. Closed on Sunday and holidays.

Eligibility:
People may walk in for service. Program staff complete a form for all emergency food applicants and make home visits when circumstances require ongoing services. People may apply one time a month.

Documents To Bring:
Picture ID or proof of address, such as a utility bill or rent receipt, is required from head of household and other adults; people who do not have I.D are assisted one time only.

They help neighbors in crisis attain self-sufficiency by partnering with the community and using their resources wisely to provide vital support services with love and dignity.

One main focus is to provide Family Food Program (groceries)to the low-income families and the homeless with love & dignity. In 2010, they distributed over 4.5 million tons of food to over 4,300 unduplicated families. Children of the very low-income are also a key focus. They have a "Back to School" program that provided over 1,700 needy children with new school clothes, new shoes,socks, underwear, haircuts, manicures, backpacks, art kits and age-appropriate school supplies. Our Health Services offer Vision and Dental Programs along with medical and pharmaceutical services for the homeless. Other Homeless Services provide emergency resources that include bag lunches, motel vouchers, referrals for counseling and drug and alcohol programs. Holiday Programs provide bountiful food boxes for  Thanksgiving and generous food boxes, new toys, clothing for children at the Holidays.
