Services: FAMILY DEVELOPMENT AND SELF SUFFICIENCY SERVICES(FaDss): An intensive in-home program for families receiving income assistance from DHS Home visits are the foundation of SIEDA's FaDSS program Visits in the home allow the family and the specialist the opportunity to meet in a safe, non-threatening environment The specialist meets with the family at least once a month During these visits, an assessment of the need of the family is completed and the family is assisted in identifying long and short term goals that will enable them to become self sufficient During subsequent visits, the specialist works with the family to identify the progress that has been made in meeting these goals and provides support to and advocacy for the family as it strives towards independence: must be receiving FIP
HEAD START: Provides services to low income children and families within the Jefferson County service area Services provided include transportation, education, nutrition, health advice/services, and support.Call or come by the office to make an appointment and fill out an application.
HEIGHBORHOOD RESOURCE CENTER: The centers provide outreach, information, referral services, holiday projects and serves as a single point of entry for all agency services such as Energy Assistance, Weatherization, and crisis payments On site services available include NEST Program, Head Start Classroom, Parents as Teachers Educator, FaDSS Specialist on site (also serves Van Buren County FaDSS), Substance Abuse Services Counselor
NEST PROGRAM: The NEST program is an incentive-based, parent education and support program to pregnant women and children through 3 years of age The goal of the program is to prevent birth defects and improve the health of pregnant women and their babies by providing incentives to encourage early prenatal care and parent education.
SUBSTANCE ABUSE SERVICES: Comprehensive substance abuse prevention services within the community. Includes substance abuse treatment, assessments, outpatient counseling and group therapy: By referral, call the office, or visit the office in person Documents required: Proof of income, insurance card, Medicaid card, and proof of identification.
