Services: Families In Transition of Santa Cruz County, founded in 1992, works collaboratively with other service providers in a community wide effort to end and prevent homelessness for families with children in Santa Cruz County. Toward this end, Families In Transition works in partnership with families who are homeless or at-risk of becoming homeless, providing participants with access to employment training, social services and housing opportunities to assist them in becoming both self-reliant and interdependent members of the community. Families In Transition provides a variety of housing assistance strategies for eligible families, including: eviction prevention, temporary rental support, on-going rental assistance while participating in training programs, transitional housing and advocacy and assistance in obtaining permenent housing in the community. Family services are individualized and include on-going skill building and referral to needed resources. All families work in partnership with a case manager to develop the skills neccessary to maintain their homes for their children long after completion of Families In Transition services.
