Services:
Assists veterans who expaeriencing a financial hardship. Helps to meet a variety of unforeseeable emergency needs. Provides food vouchers in emergency situations. In certain circumstances provides rent payments, utility payments, mortgage payments, prescriptions, and principle car payments. Assists with burial expenses for indigent veterans. Assistance cannot be used for an extended basis and is generally for emergency, one time needs.

Eligibility:
Serves veterans with discharge for honorable service or under honorable conditions, and must have been on active duty for other than training purposes. Must be a resident of Lake County for at least 90 days. Funeral assistance is only provided for indigent veterans. Client can receive assistance as often as determined by the agency on a case by case basis.

Documents To Bring:
Documentation requirements are extensive and will vary with service sought. They will include at least: DD214 and proof of residency in Lake County for at least 90 days. For burial assistance, must be able to prove need.

Those from Bainbridge Twp. must first try to receive assistance from Geauga County Job and Family Services or United Way Services of Geauga County. Must have an immediate need and be able to show the ability to make future payments, and otherwise demonstrate how this assistance will resolve the situation.
