Services: OVERVIEW: Provides a wide range of services for individuals and families in need of food, clothing and financial assistance. - SERVICES: - 1) THRIFT STORE: Open Mon-Sat, 9AM-5PM; for the general public. Persons on a limited income may be eligible to receive free clothing if they bring all information and fill out application. Families can obtain vouchers to receive free clothing once every 6 months. Must apply with in-house social service department to qualify for vouchers. Thrift Store is located at 301 Vine and Eastern Shore Drive. - - 2) EMERGENCY FOOD: Provides food every 30 days for those who qualify. By appointment only on Mon-Fri 9AM-3PM. - - 3) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides up to $60 per year, per family, for help with prescriptions, mortgage or rent and up to $400 per year for utilities through the Good Neighbor Fund, when available. Must have proof of income, proof of residency, turn-off/eviction notice, ID and Social Security cards for every member of the household and you must apply at Shore Up (Office of Home Energy Programs) first before seeking assistance. - - 4) YOUTH CLUBS: Offers a variety of sports and other programs to children in the community. There will be a worship service at 11AM and those in attendance will then be served a Thanksgiving meal. - - CHRISTMAS/ANGEL TREE: (CLOSED): Applications for the Angel Tree sign-ups starts on Oct.23-25th & 27th - from 9-11:30AM & 1-3:30PM, and Oct 26th from 1-3:30PM & 5-7:30PM in the Youth Club Gym. Children ages 14 and under are eligible for toys. All other qualifying family members are eligible for food boxes. Distribution dates will be given at the time of sign-up, if approved for services. - *For resident of Wicomico, Somerset and Worcester County only. - - * Anyone that wasn't able to sign up for Angle Tree assistance during the designated days can call the Social Service Dpt. and leave a message with their contact information. It is a first come first serve basis until the list is full.* - - Applicants must bring the following documentation: - Photo ID of applicant and other adults in the family. - Birth certificates for all children 14 years old and under. If you do not have these, you may bring official school records, medical records or social services documentation with your name and your children's name. - Official documentation if you have custody of someone else's children. - Documents (recent pay stub preferred) showing all household income. - Receipts that you have showing all bills paid in the last 30 days. - If you are living with family or friends and they pay all bills, then provide their photo ID and a letter from them stating that they are responsible for all your expenses. - - 6) FURNITURE: Provides furniture vouchers on a one time emergency basis. for families that experience a disaster in their home and a referral from Red Cross is required. Individual/families that have moved from a homeless shelter or have been incarcerated and is moving into a permanent resident, must have referral from shelter or corrections department. Guests are served on Sat, 11AM-1PM at Grace United Methodist Church. 635 East Church Street, Salisbury, 21804. - - 3) KIDS CAFE: Provides meals, snacks, nutrition education and activities during the school year three days a week (hours vary) to community children ages 6-12. Students must be enrolled at East Salisbury or Beaver Run Elementary Schools. Also the summer program runs from June-Aug (hours vary). - - 4) HEALTH PREVENTION EDUCATION AND BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENING: PRMC Wellnes Van is parked on the first Thurs of each month in the parking lot at Grace United Methodist Church, 635 East Church Street. - - 5) HOMELESS MEN WELCOME CENTER: Provides facilities on Sat only from 10AM-2PM for single homeless men to shower, do laundry and once a month a barber is on site to cut hair. The center also serves as a cooling center during the hours of operation. - - 6) PRESCRIPTION ASSISTANCE: Offers financial assistance with paying for prescribed medication to anyone in need on Tues & Thurs from 10AM-1PM. Accepts walk-ins and assistance is based on income.

Services: NOTE: Assistance is targeted to the 21771 area. - OVERVIEW: Distributes food baskets for needy families, utility bill assistance once a year, operates a holiday assistance program and provides information and referral other needed resources. - - SERVICES: - 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides some financial assistance for emergency utility bills, medical expenses, or transportation costs. - - 2) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE:Coordinates an adopt-a-family program for both Thanksgiving (meal of family's choice) and Christmas (meal and at least one gift to open for each family member). Organizations and individuals who wish to sponsor a family in need will communicate with the family directly to meet their preferences. Applicants must provide ID with proof of address, a wish list for each child, as well as clothing size. - - 3) GODS KITCHEN: Provides a hot meal every Thursday (except holidays) at Calvary United Methodist Church, 403 South Main Street. Church opens at 6PM and meal is served at 6:30PM. - - 4) INFORMATION AND REFERRAL: Offers information and referrals to available services in surrounding counties (Frederick, Carroll, Howard and Montgomery counties). - - DONATIONS: Non-perishable food, gift cards to the grocery stores, as well as monetary donations.

Services: OVERVIEW: Provides assistance to individuals in need of financial assistance, food and homeless services. - - SERVICES: - 1) DINING ROOM (Soup Kitchen): Offers hot meals to anyone in need on Tues, Wed and Thurs, 10:30AM-12PM. - - 2) EMERGENCY FOOD PANTRY: Provides groceries once every 30 days on Tues, Wed, and Thurs, 8:30-11:30AM for Wicomico County residents only. Clients are screened, but no referral is necessary. Formula and pampers sometimes are available. Need ID and Social Security card for everyone in the family (if they are new clients or have not been to the Center for a year). - - 3) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides funds for court-ordered evictions (go to DSS first), first month's rent or security deposit (need leasing agreement), utility turn-offs, water bills and prescriptions (go to Salvation Army first). Walk-ins must come in between 8-8:30AM on Tue, Wed and Thur. Their names are placed on a lottery list to receive service. - - 4) HOSPITALITY DAY ROOM FOR THE HOMELESS: Provides a temporary day shelter for homeless men and women. Offers showers, laundry, breakfast, lunch and one bag of clothes. - - 5) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: - THANKSGIVING: (CLOSED): Offers food giveaways to anyone in need, must sign up by 10/31. New clients signing-up or clients updating their cards after 10/31 will not be eligible to receive a turkey, only a chicken. Pantry clients will receive the following: Families with 1 to 3 will receive chicken. Families of 4 or more will receive a turkey. - - Distribution for the turkeys and chicken will be on Mon 11/21 & Tues 11/ 22. There will be no food bags passed out on these dates. - - CHRISTMAS: Provides Christmas toys giveaway to families in need. Must be a client of the food pantry. New pantry clients must sign up by 11/30 in order to receive assistance. Any client that is signing up at the Salvation Army for Christmas assistance will be asked to decide who they want to receive their gifts from. If they decide to get them from Joseph House then they will notify the Salvation Army of the client's decision. - - Distribution of toys will be Tues 12/19, Wed 12/20 & Thurs 12/21. There will be no food bags passed out on these dates. - - 6) REPRESENTATIVE PAYEE: Provides assistance to anyone that needs help managing their finances and paying their bills so that they will not fall into a crisis situation. Call for more information. - - 7) DONATIONS: Accepts clothing, food, household items and monetary donations all year.

Services: OVERVIEW: Offers an emergency shelter for women, men and families. Also provides food giveaway, school supplies and holiday assistance. - - SERVICES: - 1) SHELTER: Provides a 24-hour emergency shelter with 72 beds (includes 13 family rooms) that provides residents with food, clothing, counseling and referrals to social service agencies. Intake starts at 5:30pm and all residents will have to sign out of the shelter daily between 8:30-9AM. Accepts only three people each day into the shelter, a family consists of one person (unless there is an emergency). All residents entering the shelter will have two weeks to get a job or provide evidence of diligent daily efforts to obtain work and housing. Those who are able to obtain work or provide evidence of efforts in obtaining work may be extended a maximum stay of 30 days in the shelter. - - 2) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017 (CLOSED): Provides Christmas toys to children staying in the shelter and anyone in need. Distributes toys on Sat Dec 16 at 9AM on a first come first serve basis until all toys are given away. Parents must have child with them in order to receive any toys. Also provides food bags to individuals and families in need. - - 3) SCHOOL SUPPLIES 2017: Provides a wide variety of back packs filled with school supplies for students in head start thru 12th grade. Clothes will also be given away for free and individuals must bring their own bags or boxes for their items. Operates on a first come first serve basis until all items are distributed. It will be held on Sat 8/19 at 8am until supplies last. Parents must have child with them in order to get school supplies. - -
Eligibility: Homeless men, women and families. Previous residents must wait 6 months before returning or 1 year if they are on the do not return list.
