HOLIDAY FOOD provides special meals during the holiday season
HOLIDAY FAMILIES helps families in need have a brighter holiday season
BACK-TO-SCHOOL program provides donated school supplies for area children
CHILD AND ADULT CARE FOOD PROGRAM (CACFP) is an extension of the national school lunch program which reimburses child care providers a set reimbursement rate for serving nutritious meals and snacks to children in their care
FOOD PANTRY provides a three-day supply of food to families who are out of food and money; pantries located in each outreach office
FOOD FOR LIFE provides families in need with packages of frozen meat donated by local livestock producers; guidelines and availability of meat may vary between counties
FAMILY DEVELOPMENT AND SELF SUFFICIENCY(FaDSS) program is available to anyone receiving FIP benefits thru the state of Iowa; clients meet with staff twice per month with the goal of self-sufficiency
EARLY CHILDHOOD EDUCATION programs including Head Start, Early Head Start, and a Child Development Center; locations in Akron, Cherokee, Ida Grove, Le Mars, Orange City, Rock Rapids, Rock Valley, Sioux Center, and Hawarden
WEATHERIZATION program offers energy efficient repairs to homes
LOW INCOME HOME ENERGY ASSISTANCE PROGRAM (LiHEAP) assists families with heating costs by paying a portion of their utility bill; it is not intended to pay a household's total energy costs; program available November 1st-April 30th
WIC (Women, Infants, & Children) is a supplemental nutrition program for babies, children under the age of 5, pregnant women, breastfeeding women, and women who have had a baby in the last 6 months; provides healthy foods, nutrition education, and referrals to other health care agencies
MATERNAL HEALTH program offers payment for child birth and/or parenting classes; education about labor, delivery, infant, and self care; referrals to other health care or local community services, including help finding a dentist; presumptive eligibility for Medicaid; help arranging delivery; social assessments and referrals; referrals for family planning and child health care; and Care Coordination services, including transportation and translation assistance
CHILD HEALTH program provides financial assistance for un-insured or under-insured children needing medical and dental care; children from birth to age 21 receive:
-Well-child examinations by family physicians
-Immunizations and lead screenings
-Nutrition assessments and counseling
-Oral health screenings, fluoride varnishes and sealant applications by a registered dental hygienist and payment for dental examinations
-Care coordination services, including transportation and translation assistance
CARE FOR KIDS coordinator provides information for children on Medicaid, well baby and well child screenings
