Services: FOOD PANTRY: Provides food assistance to low-income families in Buchanan County Clients receive five days worth of non-perishable food and perishable food--milk, eggs, bread, and frozen meats. Clients must have a referral from a qualifying agency every time the pantry is visited 12 visits per year is allowed. Clients may (in hardship cases, be referred more often at the discretion of the Referral Agencies).

COMMUNITY SERVICE: Provides emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, home mortgage interest payment, food and nonfood items, bus tickets or gas money for people with state papers to get back and forth from the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for medical appointments, one way bus tickets for the homeless to return to their home, or for someone to verify a job or a living arrangement Will to help with rental deposits, late fees or taxes
CONSERVATION DEPARTMENT: Buchanan County Conservation Department offers parks, natural areas, preserves, historic sites, wetlands, and many educational and recreational opportunities
COUNTY ATTORNEY: The attorney and legal advisor for the county who renders legal advice to county and district offices relative to official duties.
DMV: DMV provides commercial and non commercial drivers license's, photo ID's, driving manuals, driving tests, driving records, school permits, and parking permits
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT: Conducts damage assessments and responsible for requesting federal assistance after a disaster. Finds other funding sources other than the government to assist residents with cleanup, repair and relocation when necessary
GENERAL ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance on a temporary basis for a limited period of time It can be used to pay for basic needs that include rent/lot rent; interest on original mortgage; utilities-gas, electric, and water; burial; and food vouchers for clients who are unable to work. JAIL: Supervision, parole and community-based corrections
JUVENILE COURT SERVICES: Juvenile Court Services has jurisdiction over juveniles who violate criminal laws and who are in need of protection and/or advocacy as a result of abuse, neglect, or abandonment This is accomplished through probation, court, detention, adoption (Superior Court), and support services.
LAW ENFORCEMENT: Sheriff's office
RECORDER: Issues licenses for birth, boating, death, fishing, hunting, marriage and snowmobiles
TREASURER OFFICE: This office does tax collection for the county, issues motor vehicle titles and registrations, driver's license, financial management of county revenues
VETERANS AFFAIRS: Helps wartime veterans and their families of a wartime veteran with rent, utilities and limited medical expenses in times of need

LATINO MOMS: Provides an opportunity for moms of Hispanic descent to meet and socialize English lessons are available.
LATINO SERVICES: Services provided by bilingual staff to address needs of Latino families. Includes translation, interpretation, referrals, and job assistance services.
PASS(PARENTS ACHIEVE SUCESS W/ SUPPORT): Program for parents between ages of 21-25. Focus on self-sufficiency and parenting skills. Snacks and child care provided at no cost to participants.
PARENT EDUCATION: Prevention program utilizing teen parents to present realities of teen parenting. Programs are scheduled.
RECREATION SERVICES: Anyone interested in fitness, recreation, physical skills classes.
RESIDENCE PROGRAM: Housing for women. Rooms are single occupancy. One room is handicapped accessible. Kitchen and laundry facilities are available

WIZE GIRLS: This program for girls in 6th, 7th or 8th grade that meets weekly during school year The girls participate in recreation and community activities
