ICAP Housing Services in Minnehaha County:Bright Futures: A comprehensive program aimed at helping eligible homeless participants to enter and maintain permanent housing and move toward self-sufficiency. Program participants can receive a broad range of housing services, along with tenant education that teaches the participants the skills they need in order to be successful renters.Dakota Dream Saving Fund: Matching savings program for the purchase of a home, for every $1.00 saved, participants are matched with $3.00 with a maximum savings of $2,000.00. Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) program: aims to help two specific groups - persons who are at great risk of homelessness and those who have become homeless. Services that can be provided include case management, security deposit and rent assistance. These services are aimed at helping participants to retain their housing, therefore avoiding homelessness, or to re-enter appropriate permanent housing as quickly as possible. There is a waiting list for this program, and a Care Referral form is needed to get in the program. Heartland House: The Heartland House is a rapid re-housing program for families experiencing homelessness with the goal of self-sufficiency. Housing and support services (education, job search, nutritional information, living skills, and intensive family case management) are provided.Heartland House Donations:      Call prior to dropping items off, drop off items. Fridays from 12:00pm - 3:00pm or by appointment. The Heartland House accepts the following items: Clothing - children's and infant items - any size, diapers, dishes, toys/games, tools, furniture, baby furniture, VCR's, TV's (no counsel TV's), microwaves, bedding/linen supplies - pillows (washable filling), sheet sets, towels (kitchen and bath), household items, and hygiene/personal Items.Housing Repair / Rehabilitation: Provides a zero-interest, five-year decreasing balance loan for eligible homeowners to be used for accessibility modifications for persons with disabilities, in addition to making necessary repairs for health, safety and code compliance.Self-Help Housing Rehabilitation: Eligible participants will work with program staff to identify their specific needs and to create a work plan. The Program Coordinator will find the best funding sources available to the homeowners and assist them throughout the process.Weatherization and Furnace Replacement Program: Aimed at making housing for low-income persons more energy-efficient and less costly for the residents. The residence is audited and a list of needs is developed. The program provides the materials and pays contractors for the labor to weatherize the home (caulk cracks, insulate, weather-strip, fix windows, etc.).  Furnaces can be repaired or replaced, if not repairable, through the program.  In addition, some inefficient/high-cost non-operating appliances (range / refrigerator / water heater) can also be replaced in certain circumstances.
