Vision Statement 1. Second Harvest Food Bank will be the principal source for donated food in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties to end hunger. 2. Second Harvest Food Bank will provide adequate volume and variety of product to meet agency needs. 3. Second Harvest Food Bank will be the first point of contact in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties concerning hunger issues and the processes to address those issues. 4. Second Harvest Food Bank will remain viable and operational until hunger is ended in their service area. 5. Second Harvest Food Bank will be an integral part of any team assembled to address disasters in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, and will be the principal source for donated food to assist with disaster relief. The primary program of the food bank is the distribution of donated food to qualified charities so that they have the resources necessary to assist people in need. The food bank currently serves over 400 different charities who provide emergency food box assistance and prepared meals to their clients. Program Description: SHFB distributes over 3.5 million pounds of USDA Commodities through 65 locations in Riverside County. Program Description: Through their Senior Food Share Program and their Brown Bag Program, SHFB provides supplemental food resources to over 4,000 low income senior citizens. Through pre-scheduled deliveries to 65 sites, food is delivered near where the seniors live and they pick up the products, or receive them through volunteers who deliver to their homes.
