Services: Batavia Interfaith Clothes Closet's mission is to provide gently used clothing to the economically disadvantaged of Batavia and Batavia Township. Clothes are given twice a month, 10 items per person in household. Some items are limited. We also have shoes, linens, and a small amount of housewares.
Hours: Open hours for clients: Monday 6:30 pm-7:30 pm; Tuesday 1:00 pm-3:00 pm; Friday 10:00 am-12:00 pm; and the first Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 7:30 pm. ** Drop off Hours for clothing: 9:00 am-11:30 am Monday, Tuesday, and Friday.
Eligibility: Persons are required to be a resident of Batavia or Batavia Township, which includes parts of Aurora and North Aurora. If you are unsure if you live within the township boundaries, please call Batavia Township at (630) 879-1411 to verify if you are eligible before coming to the pantry.
Documents To Bring: Need a pantry card from Batavia Food Pantry next door. To obtain the card, go to Food Pantry during its open hours and fill out an application with documentation of residency - may use a utility bill or a lease. Also need a picture ID. Services: The Salvation Army in Aurora offers a variety of services to the community at their main location The General Assistance Program provides case management, resource connections and referrals for emergencies, and help with rental assistance and utilities through the NIGas Sharing and LIHEAP Programs. Food Pantry open Tuesdays and Thursdays between 10:00 am-12:00 pm Disaster Services responds to victims of fire, flood and/or tornado in Aurora by providing emergency food, water, cleaning supplies, clothing, housing referral and vouchers, counseling and casework They also will operate an emergency disaster canteen and a mobile feeding unit. The Second Horizon Center provides social, recreation, education, information and health services, plus a monthly dinner and program for older adults Service area includes parts of DuPage and Will Counties in addition to all of Kane and Kendall Counties. Services: The Salvation Army in Elgin provides financial assistance for utilities and rent when funding is available. Emergency food assistance is available M-F, but main food pantry distribution is held every Friday. Clothing referrals may be given two times a year or once every six months. Client needs a voucher, picture ID, and proof of address. Other programs include the state-wide Nicor Sharing Program for gas utility assistance and a Latino literacy program.
