The mission of Hamilton Family Center is to end homelessness for the families and individuals that they serve by providing a safe, home that promotes the dignity of each person. They offer food, shelter, and guidance to more than 250 people each day (60% of whom are children) through their two emergency shelters and transitional housing program. They offer tutoring and recreational activities to hundreds of kids a year through their Children?s Services. They help countless families find housing through First Avenues ? Housing Solutions for Families, their housing program. And, at their permanent supportive housing facility, they offer comprehensive on-site support services to help 125 residents maintain stable housing. Hamilton Family Center provides a continuum of services for families and individuals seeking shelter and support to rebuild their lives, including the only 24-htheir access family shelter in San Francisco.

Hamilton Family Center is an organization that offers these families in crisis a place to call home, along with important support services and encouragement, to assist them while they work to escape homelessness and the damaging effects that often accompany housing loss. They do this important work through six programs, including: ? Hamilton Family Emergency Center (260 Golden Gate Avenue, SF, 94102) offers newly homeless families 24-htheir access to emergency overnight shelter, or a place to stay for up to 60 days. This site provides basic services that include a warm bed, three meals each day, and crisis intervention counseling and support. Additionally, the Tom Waddell Health Clinic provides a doctor and nurse to clients twice a week. (After careful consideration Hamilton Family Emergency Center was relocated to 260 Golden Gate Avenue on June 28, 2006 and is now housed in the same building as Hamilton Family Residences. They believe they will be able to better serve their families in one convenient location.) ? Hamilton Family Residences (260 Golden Gate Avenue, SF, 94102), the largest homeless shelter for families in San Francisco, offers families a place to stay for six months while they receive comprehensive support services that include case management, substance abuse support, money management assistance, advocacy, family counseling, three meals a day, employment and life skills training, referrals, children?s services, and crucial assistance to secure permanent housing. ? Hamilton Family Transitional Housing Program (1631 Hayes Street, SF 94117) offers families housing in their own apartments and wide-ranging support services for up to 18 months, giving them time to identify and address the root causes of their homelessness. Families improve budgeting, parenting, and other skills while preparing for a life of economic and housing stability. The Children?s Program at this site offers enriching recreational and educational activities for the youngest members of the program.
