Services: The mobile Food Bank provides a monthly distribution of fresh produce and other items for residents of Somerest County who are unable to participate in the central Somerset County Produce to People distribution due to limited or lack of transportation. Participation is limited to one distribution site per household per month. This food quantity may weigh as much as 40-50 pounds. Bring your own BAG, BOX, BASKET, WAGON or CART to take away the food to your car or home. There will be limited volunteer assistance to help with carrying your food. Watch WJAC-TV Channel 6 for cancellation information. Our weather cancellation policy is: If the Somerset County Technology Center is closed, the SCMFB distributions for that day are canceled. Services: NOTE: Must be a non-profit organization that offers a food pantry or soup kitchen to its residents. Coordinates the procurement and distribution of food donations from manufacturers, wholesalers, retailers and government agencies to be distributed to non-profit organizations providing free food to county residents. SERVICES: 1) GENERAL SERVICES: Obtains, stores, and distributes food supplies and non-food supplies such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish washing and laundry detergent to qualified non-profit agencies. 2) DONATIONS: Accepts food and non-food donations as well as monetary donations.

Opportunities include, reading tutors for children, delivering meals to shut-ins, helping at blood drives, visit and/or entertain nursing home residents, usher for theatrical productions, sort and pack food at food banks/pantries and for SHIP programs, serve as hospice and hospital volunteers, provide support to non-profit agencies, assist at local senior centers, and help with other projects geared to their individual skills.

Services: OVERVIEW: Provides a food pantry, financial and holiday assistance, as well as an after school and summer camp program for the youth. - - SERVICES: - 1) FOOD PANTRY:Offers non-perishable items from in house pantry. Must have photo ID, proof of income. - - 2) RUMMAGE SALES: Offers gently used clothing and furniture, when available, to individuals and families in need. Rummage sales take place on most Fridays of the month (call for dates) from 9AM-12PM in the rear of the building. Prices are no more than $5 for clothing and household items. Furniture is also sold at deeply discounted rates during the rummage sales. - - 3) FREE CLOTHING AND FURNITURE: Items can be provided for free to individuals with no means to pay for them. Those in need are able to come any day of the week with a referral from a human service agency or fire/police department to receive assistance. - - 3) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Emergency funds available one time per year for fuel, utilities, and rent when funding is available. - - 4) YOUTH PROGRAMS: Provides after school programs during school year and a day camp in the summer. - - 5) HOLIDAY ASSISTANCE 2017: Eligibility for holiday assistance is determined on a case-by-case basis. - o CHRISTMAS: Toys are provided for children for children 12 and under. Sign-up for both counties are the last two weeks in September: September 18th - 22nd from 9AM to 12PM, also September 25th - 29th from 9AM - 12PM. Last three dates to sign up are September 22, 27, & 29th from 9AM - 12PM and 5PM to 7PM at 701 East First Street. Pick up of Items will be December 22nd from 9-NOON at the same address. - CLIENTS MUST BRING: Photo ID, proof of income for entire household, SS cards or birth certificates for entire household, and an itemized list of expenses for the last 30 days. If receiving any type of government Assistance must bring that information as well. Applicants must also provide a list of children's clothing sizes and a list of 3 gift ideas under $50. - - 7) DONATIONS: Monetary donations, non-perishable food items, gently used clothing and furniture needed. PLEASE call before donating large furniture items.
