Services: CCAP's Social Services Department administers the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) for Cranston, Scituate and Foster with federal funding earmarked for the state of Rhode Island. LIHEAP is designed to help low-income clients meet the ever-increasing cost of home energy. Payments are made directly to vendors who then credit the client's account for the amount specified. Eligible clients also qualify for a reduced electric rate as well as a discount on the client's telephone bill.
Healthy Families America Program: Love that Baby Campaign â The Healthy Families Program is designed to help parents with understanding and caring for their child's needs, building strong parent child connections, breastfeeding and feeding support, and helping children learn and grow to reach their potential. We also help families to connect with other services and supports that they feel they need.
Parent as Teacher Program (PAT): The Parents as Teachers Program (PAT) is a free home based program that supports parents by teaching them the skills they need to teach their children and enhance their development and also supports families with monthly community activities and family events. PAT enrolls pregnant families and families with children up to 2 years old.
Case Management: Adolescent Self-Sufficiency Program assists pregnant and parenting teens to make important decisions and plans that lead to personal and economic self-sufficiency. Services include pregnancy and parenting education; education and job training assistance; referrals to community resources; individual and group counseling and pregnancy prevention workshops.
Youth Diversionary Program: Primary goal of this program is to divert youth from the juvenile justice system. It is a 90 day, intensive home-based program providing behavior management education, family counseling and case management services.
Social Services: To help individuals and families meet the basic human needs of food, shelter and clothing. Designed to provide people with a range of services that promote personal and economic self-sufficiency. Provided to eligible families and individuals at no cost.
Registered Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) site: Staff of tax preparers are IRS trained, tested, and certified to help people who qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit program receive the tax credits they deserve. THIS IS A FREE SERVICE. You will need to call for an appointment and must bring a copy of your previous year's return, all financial statements pertaining to tax year 2013, your social security card, and a picture ID. Career Closet serves, loss from fire or water damage, income eligible men and women who are completing job training and education programs and seeking employment. Job seekers may obtain, at no cost, work appropriate clothing for their job interviews.
Food Pantry:Monthly food distribution is offered to assist food insecure households. Individuals/Families in need of food assistance may come to our pantry once a month. When you arrive, our staff will help you select food that you/your family will enjoy. The amount of food you receive is based on your family size. It is helpful (but not required) if you bring with you any re-useable bags that you may have.
