Services: Second Harvest Food Bank of East Tennessee works to eliminate hunger by providing food, education and services in their 18 county service area. Food for Kids: Provides weekend meals in backpacks for 4,995 children in 114 elementary schools.
Kids Cafe: Provides after school meals, snacks and nutrition education to 1,100 children in 32 "safe sites".
Knoxville Harvest: Rescued 3.0 million pounds of prepared and perishable food from grocers, restaurants and growers. Delivered same day to soup kitchens, saving them $5 million annually in food costs.
Mobile Pantry/Rural Route: Delivers 150 truckloads of food and personal care items to outlying agencies with limited resources, saving them hundreds of thousands of dollars in product and operations costs.
Cased Food: Agency/Food Partners shop their warehouse for bulk quantities of fresh and/or packaged foods - 5 million meals per year.
Abundant Life Kitchen: Provides job training in Culinary Arts for disadvantaged adults. A collaboration with Knox Area Rescue Ministries, this program has graduated 20 students; each with a permanent job and off the homeless and welfare rolls.
