Services: The New Life Center, located in Opelousas provides emergency shelter, transitional housing and supportive services for up to 37 homeless women and 31 children per night All residents participate in case management where they are assisted with applying for mainstream benefits, entering school, obtaining employment and permanent housing Residents also attend life skills sessions, job counseling and are referred to outside agencies for additional counseling A chemical dependency program is also available for those women recovering from alcohol and/or drug addictions All residents are provided with three meals a day, transportation, prescription assistance, clothing, diapers and toiletries.

Eligibility: Homeless women, with or without children; substance abusers must be drug/alcohol free for 72 hours before entering. Will accept mothers with sons to age 18.

(2) Asbury also responds to local social service agencies Examples include ECSS (Early Childhood Support & Services; CUPS, Love, Inc and case managers working through the Lafayette Parish Homeless Education Department) Agencies fax requests to Asbury for assistance.

Solomon House is an outreach mission of the Episcopal Church of Epiphany and offers a Brown Bag Program every Tuesday morning at 7:00am-9:00am A bag of groceries is given to whoever is at Solomon House on Center Street.
Assistance for utilities, medication, and rent is provided by appointment only. To get an appointment, an individual must call on the 2nd or 3rd Tuesday 10am-11am ONLY.
Referrals are no longer provided by United Way of Iberia.
Enfamil and diapers are available under the Nutrition Program.
An Alcoholics Anonymous support group meets every Sunday at 7:00pm.
