Serves patients in Florida, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama and Mississippi Associated with Air Charity Network.
1. Patient must be ambulatory, most of our planes are 4-6 seat, unpressurized aircraft and getting in and out of one can be compared to getting in and out of the back seat of a small car; therefore, the patient must be able to sit upright and wear a seat belt.
2. Treatment is not offered locally, there must be a legitimate medical reason to justify scheduling a mission - for example, the treatment is not working, or it is unavailable in the local area.
3. Demonstrated financial need, while there is no formula for screening patients, we must still determine, at our discretion, whether there is a demonstrated financial reason that conventional transportation cannot be used instead.
4 Patient must be medically stable, we are not an emergency air service, although we do coordinate transplant flights. For the most part, if you need that type of service or you reside outside of our five state service area, please contact the National Patient Air Transport Hotline at 1-800-296-1217 or go to their Web site at www.npath.org .
5 Available to fly disaster relief personnel from recognized relief agencies in case of terrorist incident or natural disaster (hurricanes) This type of flight can be arranged ASAP by calling hotline at 1-800-352-4256.
