Services: Rockford Meld is an emergency shelter and housing for homeless pregnant or parenting woman under the age of 21 years of age, with a 1 day to 120 day shelter stay. Women are assisted in securing support services and to set goals for the future. The transitional shelter program provides up to 2 years of housing and support. Each woman must make an application and be interviewed for the program. Transitional clients are placed in their own apartments and pay rent. They are also required to participate in Meld groups.
Hours: 24 Hours 7 Days
Eligibility: Women aged 18-21 who either have children or are pregnant. Must be homeless or at risk for homelessness. Women under 18 considered if emancipated or recommended by the Youth Services Network.

Services: American Red Cross of Greater Chicago Chapter serves Kane County through its Community Center in St. Charles. It is led by volunteers who provide assistance to those in need. Services provided are: --Armed Forces Emergency Services communicates emergency messages between military personnel and families who reside in our area; -- Biomedical Services - Blood Drives works diligently with hospitals across the country to supply lifesaving blood and tissue; -- Disaster Assistance responds to disasters such as hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, house fires, and other natural disasters, providing emergency items such as food, clothing, diapers, baby formula and prescription medications to families who have lost their homes and personal belongings due to a disaster. All disaster assistance is given free of charge. --Health and Safety offers a number of health and safety courses which range in topic from CPR and First Aid to Baby-sitter Training. Also an authorized reseller of the AED, call our chapter to learn how you can purchase this lifesaving device for your home or business; --International Services supports humanitarian relief including: tracing relatives separated during disasters or wars, educating the public about international humanitarian law, and more.

Services: Catholic Charities offers limited emergency assistance for rent, utilities, food, diapers, and other basic needs for individuals and families who are experiencing economic hardship. Emergency Assistance Program personnel can also refer callers to appropriate community agencies that may be able to assist them.

Eligibility: Limited financial assistance based on an immediate precipitating event. Individuals must reside within the Diocese of Rockford. Assistance has to provide some type of resolution to the emergency, either independently or in collaboration with case management from other social service agencies.
