Services:
Children's Hospital, New Orleans, Pediatric AIDS Program (PAP) sponsors the Maternal/Child AIDS Program (M-CAP) through use of title Part D Ryan White funds. Besides providing the necessary advocacy to HIV+ women, children, adolescents and families, the program provides health management, counseling, volunteer services and childcare. We initially offer services to all HIV+ pregnant mothers and continue services after delivery, whether or not HIV infects the newborn. M-CAP provides services to the nine Northwest LA parishes.
Our staff includes a resource developer and a care coordinator. Together they coordinate efforts with other medical and community organizations to improve existing and/or to establish new services to meet the continuing needs of HIV+ mothers and their families.
A Care Coordinator will help you in gaining access to a full range of needed services including medical, social, educational, housing, benefits, finances, legal and other support services. Monthly follow-up meetings are provided to ensure quality of care and services.
