Pleasant must go to Frederick or Walkersville. - OVERVIEW: Provides financial assistance, a thrift shop, food pantry to area residents. - - SERVICES: - 1) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Provides assistance for eviction prevention, utility turn-offs (must be in clients name) and to help pay cost of prescriptions, medical or dental bills. Must have bill or other paperwork as proof of need. Payment is made directly to vendor. No gift cards, gas or hotel accommodations given out. - - 2) FOOD PANTRY: Open every Friday 3:30-4:30PM. Need ID, proof of current address and meet specific food pantry criteria. Walk-ins are welcome. Clients are given a 2-3 day supply of groceries. Formula is sometimes available. - - 3) THRIFT SHOP: Open to public on Monday, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 10AM-1PM. Offers bags of clothing for $2. - - 4) DONATIONS: Non-perishable food, gently used clothing, small household goods, and monetary donations welcomed. Located in the lower level of Walkersville Town Hall, 21 West Frederick Street. Open Monday evenings from 6:30-8PM and Thursday afternoons from 1-3PM. Donations of food maybe dropped off throughout the year at the Food Pantry lower level during Food Pantry hours.

Referrals to other local agencies are also provided. Services: 1) SOUP KITCHEN: Provides warm meals 2 days a week; Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30PM and Saturdays from 5-6:30PM. 2) FOOD PANTRY: Provides food boxes to individuals and families on Wednesdays form 6:30-7:30PM and Saturdays from 5-6:30PM. Individuals and families may make a request one time per month. 3) OTHER NEEDS MET: Provides the following items when available: baby food, formulas, personal hygiene items, detergent, paper products, blankets, and sleeping bags. During the cold months a free coat handout is open to all ages. 4) DONATIONS: May be dropped off at the church, 8 West Second Street Frederick, on Wednesday from 4-9PM and Saturday from 3-9PM. Needed items include: spam, canned beef stew, canned single course dinners, canned pasta, instant potatos, spagetti sauce, boxed macaroni and cheese, breakfast cereal, boxed snacks and desserts, cookies, and crackers, Baby items needed are diapers, wipes, formula, and baby food. Gently used blankets and sleeping bags for the homeless. Monetary donations and grocery gift cards are welcomed.
