Established in 1961, HNS was designed so that low-income people seeking assistance could come to one location. Churches and other community resources rely on HNS to provide the basic necessities of life. HNS provides emergency assistance that allows their clients to use their limited income towards other basic needs. They help reduce the threat of homelessness and promote their clients into a stable self-sufficient living environment. They also assist, educate, and encourage clients towards self-reliance and a hope of a better tomorrow.

HNS serves roughly 1500-1700 individuals every month with approximately 50% of them children. The assistance they provide is given in the form of the following programs: Food Bank, Clothing, Emergency Shelter, Prescriptions Program, Special Medical, Back-to-School Program, Utility Assistance, Christmas Program, Transportation, Birthday Closet, and Referral Program.
