Services: Established in 1961, HNS was designed so that low-income people seeking assistance could come to one location. Churches and other community resources rely on HNS to provide the basic necessities of life. HNS provides emergency assistance that allows their clients to use their limited income towards other basic needs. They help reduce the threat of homelessness and promote their clients into a stable self-sufficient living environment. They also assist, educate, and encourage clients towards self-reliance and a hope of a better tomorrow. HNS serves roughly 1500-1700 individuals every month with approximately 50% of them children. The assistance they provide is given in the form of the following programs: Food Bank, Clothing, Emergency Shelter, Prescriptions Program, Special Medical, Back-to-School Program, Utility Assistance, Christmas Program, Transportation, Birthday Closet, and Referral Program.

Priority results: Food insecure individuals have access to nutritious foodFood insecure individuals are informed about how to access food from federal & local government, and non-profit programsCollection & distribution of food to those in need occur in an effective and efficient manner CFS distributes food at no charge to over 50 human service agencies located in their service area, such as emergency assistance centers, shelters, church food pantries, low income housing, and centers serving low-income children, disabled persons and seniors. Community Food Share also delivers the orders at no charge. Approximately 75% of the inventory is distributed through the agencies. Program Description: CFS operates direct distribution programs targeting those in poverty. Feeding Familes serves families with children in school who are enrolled in the free-lunch program. Elder Share serves very low-income seniors. Mobile Pantry delivers food on Saturdays to low-income areas. They also provide Emergency Food Boxes to anyone who comes to their door in need.
