Services: OVERVIEW: Provides female veterans who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness with housing and emergency financial needs. Women only - - SERVICES: - 1) TRANSITIONAL HOUSING: Offers the Housing Outreach Mentorship Encouragement (H.O.M.E) program which provides transitional housing and housing subsidy assistance to homeless female Veterans and their children. The program focuses on integrating Veterans back into their local communities and providing vast, safe residential areas to choose from. - - ELIGIBILITY: - - Must have an honorable or general discharge; verified by DD-214. Discharges beyond general will be looked at on a case by case basis. - Requires completion of initial service obligation (ISO), unless medically discharged. - - Must be able to provide proof of homelessness. - - 2) INTEREST-FREE LOAN: Offers the Savings Assessment and Financial Education (S.A.F.E) program which may provide assistance with rent, deposits, and utility assistance when funds are available to all female Veterans and U.S. military reserve component service members via an interest free loan. MUST apply on the website. - - ELIGIBILITY - - Proof of Veteran status or current U.S. Military Reserve/Guard component service. Requires completion of initial service obligation (ISO), unless medically discharged. - - Copies of the bills that you are having difficulty paying. - - Military I.D. Services: Offers MS related information networks, classes, couseling, finacial assistance, and advocacy. SERVICES: 1) INFORMATION NETWORK: Provides a lending library stocked with MS-related books and audio and video tapes. Offers quarterly newsletter and educational brochures and programs on medical, social, and psychological aspects of MS. 2) COUNSELING & SUPPORT: Counselors are available to assess clients needs for support and services. Short-term counseling provided. Other services include peer-led self-help support groups, telephone reassurance, referrals to health and human services, respite care, medical equipment loan closet discount program for new equipment purchases and cab vouchers for medical appointments and MS-related activities. 3) OPERATION JOB MATCH: Offers job preparation and readiness programs. 4) RECREATION PROGRAM: Offers yoga and strengthening programs. 5) ADVOCACY: Advocates on behalf of the client on a variety of issues in regards to policies, procedures and governmental laws. 6) FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE: Offers financial assistance for rent, utilities, DEM, physical therapy, transport, respite care.
