Services: Pregnancy Tests: Free and confidential pregnancy tests. Call for an appointment. Holistic Pregnancy Support: Helps expecting mothers identify services to help meet their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual needs through healthy choices for themselves and their unborn children. The staff, consisting of a licensed counselor, client advocates and trained volunteers assist clients in all of these areas. Childbirth Instruction: One on one meetings with a counselor or trained volunteer cover topics such as include: birth options advantages and disadvantages, relaxation exercises, signs of labor, interventions, breathing exercises, what to expect and preparation, breastfeeding, and infant Care. patients can choose to have the services of a trained Doulas assist with labor and delivery. Pregnancy Support: Unplanned pregnancy? At Option 1, clients can explore possibilities and make the healthiest decision possible for themselves. Parenting Education: Curriculum covers healthy eating, stress reduction, basics of newborn care, caring for yourself, infant temperament, bathing and sleep, breastfeeding, and more. Adoption Referral: Assists clients in finding agencies that will guide them through the process and answer any questions. Post Abortion Support: Client advocates are trained in post-abortion recovery. Support is offered individually (one on one) or in a group setting.Community Connections for Assistance: Various forms of assistance may be available for pregnant women. There are numerous resources available in Brookings to assist with food, housing, childcare, financial aid for education and more. Earn While You Learn Program (EWYL): Clients who participate in parenting education and or birthing education classes are eligible for EWYL. EWYL clients receive points for keeping appointments, participating in the learning sessions, and meeting with their client advocate on a regular basis. The points earned are then used to acquire items for mom or baby such as diapers, wipes, clothing, toys, books, and other needed products. Sexual Integrity Education: A holistic lifestyle choice, by which a person learns to make decisions in the following areas of his or her life: physical, emotional, sexual, and spiritual health. Sexual Integrity empowers women and men to enjoy relationships without compromising their values, goals, and dreams.
