Services: DuPage Social Service Association (DSSA) is a not-for-profit affiliated with DuPage County's Human Services Division The mission is to serve residents who are low income, senior citizens, persons with disabilities, and those temporarily in need of financial assistance All funds go to direct assistance, and can help pay for a prescription, medical equipment, lab fees/medical bills, housing assistance and utility bills Clients receiving DSSA funds are those who often fall through the cracks in qualifying for other services and programs The funds also help expedite assistance to those in emergency situations Assistance in Spanish and American Sign Language (ASL).

Services: Dundee Township provides General Assistance for eligible residents, is responsible for maintaining township road district highways, bridges, and assessing all property within the township including the unincorporated areas Limited emergency financial assistance for rent or utilities for residents facing a utility turning off or eviction may be available to eligible township residents once every 18 months The Township also provides the registration and scheduling for the Ride In Kane transportation program for senior and disabled residents. **The Township operates and maintains two cemeteries and an 860 acre open space program The township includes West and East Dundee, Carpentersville, Sleepy Hollow, West Dundee, Gilberts and portions of Elgin, Barrington Hills, Hoffman Estates, and Algonquin.

Services: The Community Crisis Center (CCC) provides comprehensive emergency services to individuals and families dealing with economic problems due to job loss, foreclosure, medical emergency or other increases in financial responsibilities leading to crisis. The program provides case management, personal and financial counseling, and emergency food Rent assistance, utility assistance and transportation help is also provided when funds are available. **Emergency shelter and case management for women and their children dealing with homelessness are also available.

Services: The Salvation Army in Elgin provides financial assistance for utilities and rent when funding is available. Emergency food assistance is available M-F, but main food pantry distribution is held every Friday. Clothing referrals may be given two times a year or once every six months. Client needs a voucher, picture ID, and proof of address. Other programs include the state-wide Nicor Sharing Program for gas utility assistance and a Latino literacy program. A satellite office is located in Carpentersville - see additional listing. Services in English and Spanish.

They also provide Emergency Assistance for rent to prevent eviction and disconnection of utilities. They provide life sustaining prescriptions such as for diabetes, blood pressure, and heart medications (no assistance for pain or psychotropic prescriptions). They refer for social assistance and provide Voter registration and early voting for Kane County residents Household battery recycling is available as are Notary Public services They also are a member of TRIAD, a community partnership to enhance safety and services to seniors.

Eligibility: Must be an Elgin Township resident. Emergency Assistance: A person must demonstrate the ability to pay their next month's rent when seeking rent assistance. A disconnect status must exist to receive utility assistance (gas, electric, water). Income guidelines apply. General Assistance: Must be a single adult with little or no income.
