Services: Helps families become independent of welfare support through work, personal responsibility, and community involvement FIP has a 5-year lifetime limit for benefits Clients are required to participate in work activities for a minimum of 25 hours per week, in exchange for temporary cash assistance, child care, training and emergency assistance.SERVICES:1) EMERGENCY ASSISTANCE TO FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN (EAFC): Provides emergency cash assistance to families with children It assists with court-ordered evictions, foreclosures, utility cut-offs, security deposits (must be homeless of have been evicted for the last 60 days), and burial assistance (up to $650) and may be used only once in a 24-month period Also available are funds for those who have experienced an official disaster (hurricane, flood or fire). 2) WELFARE AVOIDANCE GRANTS (WAG): Client, at caseworker's suggestion, can receive 3-12 months of cash assistance to avoid need for TCA.3) TEMPORARY CASH ASSISTANCE (TCA): Effective 14 days after application No increase in benefits for birth of another child. Child Specific Benefit will be provided through a 3rd party payee to purchase items for child's needs. Eighteen area churches make up CUCE and have pooled their resources and have an executive director who works directly with people in crisis on the churches' behalf.
