Services: The Salvation Army in Elgin provides financial assistance for utilities and rent when funding is available. Emergency food assistance is available M-F, but main food pantry distribution is held every Friday. Clothing referrals may be given two times a year or once every six months. Client needs a voucher, picture ID, and proof of address. Other programs include the state-wide Nicor Sharing Program for gas utility assistance and a Latino literacy program. A satellite office is located in Carpentersville - see additional listing. Services in English and Spanish.

A disconnect status must exist to receive utility assistance (gas, electric, water). Income guidelines apply. General Assistance: Must be a single adult with little or no income.
