Services: NOTE: Targets Hancock area ONLY (must live within 15 mile radius). - OVERVIEW: An Agency in the area offering services and emergency assistance including a coordinated effort of community outreach, support, and advocacy for low income individuals and families. Some programs include nutrition education and assistance with obtaining food, shelter and clothing. SERVICES: - 1) INFORMATION and REFERRAL: Refers low income individuals and families to local, county and/or state resources which can best meet their needs. Partners with county agencies so residents may complete applications locally and avoid the need to travel. - - 2) FOOD CO-OP, S.H.I.P.: A food program where low income individuals and families pay a cost of $5.25 per month to receive approximately $25.-$30 worth of food. Each recipient who is physically able is asked to volunteer assistance in order to maintain their eligibility. - - 3) ADVENTURES in FRIENDSHIP: Offers life skills training to Middle School and High School young people. A one-week summer day camp teaches home and health safety skills, drug awareness, CPR, nutrition and cooking, - - 4) KEEP SENIORS SAFE and WARM: Provides mini-seminars on winter related safety issues including a winter driving class, lessons on using wood stoves, kerosene heaters and space heaters, tips on energy saving, and resources for inexpensive weathering products. Also provides health information concerning assistance programs available to them, winter clothing, new blankets and smoke detectors as needed.
Eligibility: Low-income individuals and families that live within a 15 mile radius.

Services: WIC is for expectant moms and children to age five. WIC provides free nutrition counseling, breast feeding support and nutritious foods.
Hours: 0830-1200 and 1300-1700 Monday and Tuesday (except for the first Tuesday of every month).
Eligibility: The categories for eligibility are: Pregnant women; Women who are breast feeding an infant (under one year of age); Postpartum women to the sixth month after delivery; Children from birth to five years of age. Income eligibility requires that a household have gross income at or below 185% of the Federal Poverty Level. For a family of four, the Federal Poverty Limit is $32,653 per year.
Nutrition risk is any medical or health problem which can be corrected or lessened by proper amounts and types of food intake. Examples of nutrition risk are: Low iron levels; Insufficient growth, i.e. low weight for age, low weight for height; Premature delivery; Inadequate dietary intake (types or amounts of food).

Services: The Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund was founded, October 23, 2003 to help support surviving U.S. Military children who have lost a parent in the Afghanistan or Iraq wars by providing them with College Grants. Their College Grant Program has been expanded to include both U.S. Military children and spouses who have either lost a loved one as a result of the Afghanistan or Iraq wars or have a severely disabled parent or spouse who was injured during a deployment to either war. Their second objective is to help the surviving and severely disabled members of these families with financial assistance. Their goal is to award applicants of U.S. Military families that have children under the age of 18, and who are in need of assistance with housing, repairs, utilities, medical expenses, groceries, clothing, school supplies and other expenses deemed necessary in order to provide them with some support and help alleviate their need. Program Description: Program provides financial assistance for US military surviving and disabled dependents affected by the first Gulf, Afghanistan and Iraq wars who are experiencing financial hardships. CFSRF provides assistance with housing, food, clothing, utilities, lodging and travel expenses deemed necessary, relocation assistance, tuition assistance for children in need, medical bills, appliance repairs, necessary household repairs affecting the well-being of dependent children

Services: Provide vouchers for past due rent (once in a 5 yr period) or towards a court ordered eviction up to but no more than 600.00 or one months rent on past due rent notice, prescriptions up to 150.00 (no Narcotics), utilities (water and sewer bill) with shut off notice 75.00. Will assist with 25.00 for propane (1 x a year) can also help with wood for heating thru volunteer group. Can also provide assistance with work related clothing footwear i.e. steel-toe boots. Provide transportation assistance- bus passes and gasoline for job interviews and doctor's appointments. Also can help with one hundred dollars for tooth extraction or towards hearing aids.
