Services: Provides a one-time grant of up to $500 in security deposit assistance for households either on the Housing Choice Voucher Program or moving into a participating complex. The Security Deposit Program assists low-income families and individuals who meet the HUD Income Guidelines at 60% Area Median Income (AMI) to secure decent, safe, and sanitary housing in one of two ways: 1) a SPECIFIC Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LHTC) apartment complex in College Station, or 2) in conjunction with the Brazos Valley Council of Government's Housing Choice Voucher Program. For individuals and families currently NOT on the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the current participating apartment complexes are: The Haven (transitional housing complex), Heritage at Dartmouth, and Santour Court. The Brazos Valley Community Action Agency also manages units that participate in the Security Deposit Program. For individuals and families who ARE on the Housing Choice Voucher Program, the security deposit assistance can be applied to any unit in College Station who will accept the Housing Choice Voucher.
