Services: Through feeding the hungry, support, and care, they provide redemption, recovery, and re-entry to the homeless, addicted, and those in need. The LVRM has two shelters on its campus ... one which houses 198 men and another that houses 30 women and children. They feed a hot meal to anyone who is hungry every day at 5:00 pm, breakfast to all who reside at the Mission, and lunch to all those in the residential program. In 2002, they provided 360,000 hot meals. They also provide food baskets for more than 3,000 households annually to those who are potentially homeless during the holiday seasons. More than 40,000 bread, pastry, dairy, fruit and vegetable items each month are provided to anyone in need. Special attention is given to mothers with babies, providing not only formula and baby food as needed, but also diapers and other necessities. Bread, dairy, pastry, and dry goods are provided daily to select service agencies, day care centers, senior homes, and more. Although not related to their Food Services Program, the LVRM also distributes USDA Surplus Foods for the State of Nevada to approximately 15,000 persons bi-monthly. Through various agreements with local businesses and organizations in the city, they are able to provide temporary and permanent employment to qualified Mission residents. It is through this effort that many Mission residents have re-entered the community as productive, responsible citizens, able to live independently and interact effectively with society.
