FAMILY PLANNING: Provides Family Planning services, including education, counseling, pregnancy testing, comprehensive physical examinations (including cancer screening, sexually transmitted disease screening and HIV testing) and referrals Most methods of birth control are offered Educational materials and speakers are available for community presentations upon request.
IMMUNIZATIONS: Local health districts provide routine childhood vaccinations through clinics offered at clinic sites or occasionally at special off-site clinics. Routine childhood vaccinations are provided for a small administration fee. No child will be denied immunizations. Immunizations for International travel are offered by appointment at some districts. Call your local health district to find out which specific vaccines are needed for each destination. Adult vaccines such as tetanus and diphtheria (Td) boosters, hepatitis B, hepatitis A, pneumonia, and influenza vaccine may also be available. The Immunization Registry (a free, voluntary, and confidential service) allows you, your family, and your Doctor to know when and for what you have been immunized and if you are current on your immunizations.
WIC (WOMEN, INFANTS AND CHILDREN) PROGRAM: WIC is the supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children and provides: Healthy foods each month that can be purchased with WIC vouchers; health screenings; health and nutrition classes; information about community programs; referrals to health care providers; individual counseling with registered dietitians; breastfeeding information and support; recipes, newsletters, and educational materials WIC serves: Pregnant women; Breastfeeding women (up to one year postpartum); Infants up to one year of age; and Children under five years of age.
